The Middle White has a very gentle nature making them ideal for any production set-up, especially outdoor systems where the tendency to root in the ground is less than other breeds of pig, meaning there is a lower chance of damage to fencing and ground quality.
The Middle White is a medium sized pig breed, with sows weighing around 200kg and boars around 280kg. Their breed characteristics include snub noses and large prick ears, with a stocky build that is more compact than many other pig breeds.
Our experience shows the Middle White to be an early maturing, specialist pork pig that produces an excellent carcass when taken to weights of 65-70kg liveweight at around 3-4 months. The breed is less suited for growing on to heavier weights, where it can tend to put on fat.
